New Season, New Routine

September always hits like a ton of bricks... one minute you're on a dock with a beer in hand, the next you realize that kids are back to school, Christmas is around the corner and that another year has almost passed (queue Landslide by Stevie Nicks)

It’s hard not to fall into a funk and get bogged down, but this year we are making it our mission to not get overwhelmed or stressed out by the upcoming months and amp up the productivity!

SET YOUR GOALS

No not New Year's resolutions about working out for 3 hours every day and drinking 7 green smoothies a week - real, tangible goals that you can achieve in a short amount of time.

Finally land that deal, implement a new system at work, go to kickboxing once a week, put a little more money away. Give yourself a target that you know you can achieve but you have been neglecting to – something that you are going to feel great about getting done when the new year hits.

GET ORGANIZED

Easier said than done but so worth it! Get organized in all aspects of life.

Start prepping your meals or grocery shopping in advance. Clean up your inbox for the new year because we are all guilty of leaving our junk mail unread or reading emails and never deleting or filing them. Organize all those files you’ve been “saving to desktop” and never looking at again. Declutter your work space, kitchen and sleep space.

What we are really saying is taking care of the s*&% you’ve been neglecting since the nice weather hit.

WAKE UP EARLY

This one sucks and it takes some getting used to but once you get there, OMG it’s life changing. We’ve all been guilty of hitting snooze a few too many times, then scrambling to get ready and make it to work on time – which in turn, stresses you out more and starts your day on a bad note because you never fully recover from your morning that was in shambles.

Start slowly by setting your alarm 5 minutes earlier each day so you are less likely to fail.

Before you know it, you will be a 5:30am riser who conquers the bulk of their to-do list before 10am and THAT is a killer feeling. This also leaves more room to roll with your day – if for some reason your afternoon ends up jam packed, you have still already tackled everything you need to.

GET ACTIVE

Not to sound like your doctor here but getting active is a great way to beat stress, to give yourself a mental break and to keep yourself in check.

Now, we aren’t encouraging you to become a triathlon competitor overnight but a simple walk, lifting session, pilates or even some youtube yoga before you wrap up your day can change your whole mood.

As attainable as we are trying to make it sound, it is still overwhelming to get going, so start off slowly with one of these and build up until you are rocking it like some kind of superhero 😉

Let us know how you do!
