Local Love: Fall Activities in KW

One of our favourite blogs to write each month is our Local Love series, highlighting dates, events and initiatives in the Kitchener-Waterloo area that we think are certainly worth putting into your schedule! It’s hard to believe that Summer is officially over and that we are welcoming in a new, colder season but it’s not all bad! Aside from everything pumpkin spice and everything nice, you can now look forward to all these things going on right in your own community.

Check it out!

SNYDERS FAMILY FARM

936685 Blenheim Rd, Bright | September 27 – November 2 | Friday, Saturday + Sunday | snydersfarm.ca

Snyders has so much to offer everyone in the Fall. Every weekend is full of autumn activities during the day including 16 farm attractions, country hayrides, corn mazes, pedal carts, an animal barn, good food, better scenery and so much more. In the evening, Snyders Family Farm becomes Fear Farm at night (not for the faint of heart) – with six different scenes set to scare the daylights out of you, fantastic costumes and multiple food trucks it’s hard not to get into the Halloween spirit.

IDEAS OF THE BRAVE

Catalyst137 | October 2 | 5PM to 8PM | bit.ly/2mOYrdi

Ideas of the Brave is a night where more than 100 community, business leaders and residents come together to chare ideas on how to make Kitchener even better. Attendees are free to participate in roundtable workshops that focus on challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Topics include job growth, community vibrancy, talent attraction, innovation, arts and culture, downtown and nightlife. You get a chance to share your ideas, use your voice and help to prioritize efforts. An amazing, thoughtful initiative that we think all of our community members should be getting involved with.

OKTOBERFEST

October 11 – 19 | www.oktoberfest.ca

A classic, must do in KW for many years now. Oktoberfest is a nine-day celebration preserving the Germen tradition of the original Oktoberfest in Munich. The week is filled with loads of beer, cultural events, shows, great food and a colourful parade – there is something for everyone in the family. Grab your hat, feather and tickets, we will see you there!

FEDERAL ELECTION

October 21 | https://bit.ly/2RVPmen

The federal election is less than a month away and we don’t care who your voting for, but if you’re a Canadian citizen you should definitely be exercising your right to vote. Things like taxes, infrastructure, housing, education, health, justice and deficits effect each and every one of us and we do have a say. Use your voice, use your vote.

Above is a great link to highlight all the parties, where they stand and how you can vote.

What else are you getting involved with locally this Fall?!

Need extra hands to help with your next event? That’s what we’re here for!
